The State

These conditions support abundant wild fisheries that have sustained local communities for generations. With ecosystems protected by the Alaskan constitution and science-based management, Alaska has become a global leader in responsible seafood harvesting. The state’s unique geography and commitment to conservation ensure that Alaska seafood remains high-quality, wild, natural and sustainable.

Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute

The Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute (ASMI) is a public-private partnership between the State of Alaska and the Alaska seafood industry established  to promote Alaska seafood as wild, natural, and sustainably managed.


ASMI’s work to boost the value of Alaska’s seafood product portfolio is accomplished through a variety of programs, including partnerships with retail grocers, foodservice distributors, restaurant chains, foodservice operators, universities, culinary schools, chefs and the media. ASMI conducts consumer campaigns, public relations and advertising activities, and aligns with industry efforts for maximum effectiveness. ASMI also functions as a global brand manager of the Alaska Seafood family of brands.

ASMI Within the Middle East, North Africa, and West Africa (MENAWA)

Based in Dubai, UAE, the regional office supports hospitality operators, chefs, retailers, and distributors by providing reliable information about Alaska’s wild, natural, and sustainable seafood. We do not sell seafood or hold stock in the region. Instead, we help industry professionals understand Alaska’s fisheries, species characteristics, and product applications through education, training, and technical guidance.

 

We also share market insights and culinary resources to support menu development and sourcing decisions. Whether working with premium hotels, restaurant groups, or modern retail formats, our goal is to equip decision-makers with the knowledge they need to confidently identify, source, and showcase wild Alaska seafood.

Our Mission

Championing the sustainability of Alaska’s seafood harvests resulting from existing Alaska fisheries management imperatives. (State of Alaska Constitution and Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Management and Conservation Act and The Halibut Act).

Proactive marketing planning to address short and long-term goals while remaining flexible and responsive to a changing environment and economy.
